As a Mexican composer, Estrada aims to balance his artistic voice with his cultural roots. His music explores themes like migration, our connection with nature, and the blend of academic and popular music.

Being an immigrant himself, he is intrigued by stories of people carrying their culture across borders, and incorporates both classical and popular influences in his work, trying to bridge the gap between academic and popular music to connect with a broad range of audiences.

In addition to his work as a composer, Estrada is an advocate for music education, and he teaches at National Autonomous University of Mexico (composition and orchestration), the University of Houston (music theory and aural skills), Lone Star College-Montgomery (composition and music theory), and the American Festival for the Arts (composition).

Estrada holds a bachelor and master degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and is currently pursuing a fully funded doctoral degree at the University of Houston Moores School of Music.
