Divided Realities reflects on the multiple ways we interpret a shared historical or social event, and how our political positions, psychological frameworks, and social context shape this perception. These differing perspectives can lead to a fractured–or divided–sense of reality.

Musically, I explore through this idea through the juxtaposition of materials that share similar motifs and melodic contours, but that have distinctive harmonic and timbral colors. These materials remain interconnected through metric modulations that allow one idea to evolve into another while preserving a sense of continuity.

Divided Realities was commissioned by the ArtZenter Institute and was written for the San Francisco Contemporary Players
